CRAZY TRIP AROUND THE WORLD QUILT

I call this piece Crazy Trip Around the World; it is sewn using a quick piecing method called crumb piecing.   I crumb pieced blocks all in one color, then I used these small crazy pieced squares as if they were a square of solid colored fabric. I arranged them in the classic Trip Around the World pattern, fading from pink, peach, yellow to greens, teals, blues, purples to maroon.

Of course, you don't have to crumb piece just squares; you can crumb piece diamonds, rectangles, equilateral triangles, even the  pillow shaped center of a Double Wedding Ring block.

Combining crazy piecing in traditional block designs or settings can open up more possibilities as visible in one of my Crazy and Sane quilts at the bottom of this page.
