To the left you see another sample block, this one done by Martha Green of Oklahoma. Martha is quite a
teacher and quite a character. If you ever get a chance to
take a class from her, register right away! Her CQ dolls
are wonderful. As
you can see, Martha has a shy and retiring approach to color.
She hand dyes her laces to give them extra punch.
This block features a combination of recycled wool and hand
dyed wool in the block. The main colors are fuschia, dark
teal, purple and black.
Much of the embroidery on this block is done with single
thread (slightly thicker threads due to the plushness of the
wool).
All the CQ artists who did sample blocks for me said hand sewing
through the fabric wasn't a problem, but you did have to use
slightly larger beads and embellishments and slightly thicker
decorative threads.
